No, you don't need permission to take a photo of a building.
The Copyright Act, Section 32.2(1)(b) state that it is not infringement for you to take a photo or video of an architectural work (e.g. a building or structure), provided you’re not copying the drawings or plans themselves.
However, if you use copyrighted photographs of a building instead of photos you took yourself you would generally need permission from the photographers to use the images.
