Faculty and staff use their Seneca email username and password to access our electronic information resources such as the databases at https://library.senecapolytechnic.ca/az.php (i.e., “Databases A-Z” button on the Seneca Libraries homepage).
However, for a number of databases, the database vendor may have an added access requirement of setting up a separate vendor-specific username and password with them on top of our regular Seneca authentication, whether it is to use the database altogether, or just to access specific optional features (e.g., to set up alerts; to create and share playlists, receive newsletters, use teachers’ notes, etc.)
In December 2023, the email domain for all faculty and staff email addresses was changed from …@seneca.ca to …@senecapolytechnic.ca
Some of the vendors of these databases are now asking us to create a whole new account with them with our new email addresses. Most others simply allow us to change our usernames ourselves, or continue to use our previous email address as the username/user ID.
The following is a list of databases for which this applies. Please see below for details, especially the directives in bold font.

If you have never used the databases below, then much of what is below will not apply to you, and you may simply use your new email address to create a fresh account with said vendor. Please refer to the links and instructions in our main database lists at https://library.senecapolytechnic.ca/az.php (i.e., the “Databases A-Z” button on the Seneca Libraries homepage) for this.
Because their email addresses have not changed, any students’ prior access to these products should not be affected.

Business of Fashion:
- Faculty/staff HAVE TO create new login using their new email address because a Code is always emailed to that address at each use of the database.
- Go to the Business of Fashion link on https://library.senecapolytechnic.ca/az.php?a=b and follow through to the instructions page for full instructions on creating a new account.
- If faculty/staff users continue to use their old address, there should be a redirect of that Code to the new email address. However, such redirects will not be done by Seneca ITS forever, so previous faculty/staff users should create new accounts with their new email address now.
CAPS:
- Vendor has noted the new email domain for new users.
- Previous faculty/staff users can change their own login information by going into the database with their old vendor username and password and then clicking through Account > Profile.
Curio:
- Previous faculty/staff users can't change their usernames, nor can CBC.
- Users may continue to use their old email logins, but if faculty/staff really want to use their new email address, they have to create new accounts. Vendor has noted the new email domain.
- Please e-mail librarians@senecapolytechnic.ca from your Seneca faculty e-mail account for instructions on setting up a new account.
Films on Demand:
- Previous faculty/staff users can change their own email address:
- Go into the database and click Your Profile. Login with your existing vendor account and then click, "Hi, ___" in the upper-right corner, and then Profile.
- Vendor: "The users will not have to create any new accounts and they will keep their saved contents, playlists, etc.
Harvard (HBSP) via EBSCO:
- Vendor has noted the new domain for new users.
- Previous faculty/staff users can change their own to access the HBSP Teaching Notes: Account Settings > Personal Info > Profile Information and edit their email address.
- Vendor: "Updating the registered email under account settings should not affect anything on the account."
Kanopy:
- Vendor has noted the new domain for new faculty/staff users.
- Previous faculty/staff users can change their own. Go into the database and then go to My Account > My Information > Edit.
- Note though that it, "...can only be modified in the context of the web browser experience; those details cannot be changed in the Kanopy mobile or TV apps."
Law360:
- Vendor has already changed existing faculty/staff's logins for Law360 to their new email address.
- It’s only for receiving newsletter emails from Law360, however; generally accessing the database does not require this.
Peclers
- Previous faculty/staff users can continue using old/existing email logins, or they may create new logins using their new email address. Go to the Peclers Online link on https://library.senecapolytechnic.ca/az.php?a=p and follow through to the instructions page for full instructions on creating a new account.
PrepSTEP for Colleges - Canada
- Previously-registered users can continue using their old email address as their LearningExpress login.
- If you do want to use your new ...@senecapolytechnic.ca address, note that none of the work you previously saved will be available in your new account. There is no option to edit an existing username.
Reuters Newsfilm
- Previous faculty/staff users of Reuters Newsfilm can sign in using their existing …@seneca.ca username. Then, once in, go to Your account > little down arrow in upper-right corner > Update details and change your email address username.
SAGE Business Cases:
- Previous faculty/staff users can update their own logins: MY PROFILE > VIEW MY PROFILE > My Profile.
The Work from Cannes Lions:
- Faculty/staff with existing Lions logins HAVE TO create new ones:
- Go to our access at https://library.senecapolytechnic.ca/az.php?a=t and once on the Cannes Lions landing page click “Sign In” followed by “Don’t have an account? Sign up”
- The two School of Marketing faculty who have Lions 'Memberships', "...will need to have their new LIONS Membership email addresses authenticated manually and then create accounts with the new email addresses." Seneca Libraries will notify them directly.
Travel42:
- Vendor: "Current travel42 profiles can simply go to edit profile, manage account, and then change their email/userID there."
TRI Library:
- Old email addresses will continue to work, but if you don't want to use that you can create a new login with your new address:
- Go to the TRI Library link at https://library.senecapolytechnic.ca/az.php?a=t and navigate through the instructions page.
- Once on the TRI landing page, click “Sign in” in the upper-right corner and then “No account? Create one here” to create a new account with your new email address.
USP-NF:
- Previous USP faculty/staff users HAVE TO create completely new Access Point logins and passwords with our new email addresses:
- Go into our access at https://library.senecapolytechnic.ca/az.php?a=u and navigate into the database.
- Then, once on the database landing page, click the “Create a new USP Access Point account, if you do not have one” link at the bottom of the screen.
- Use your new …@senecapolytechnic.ca address as the username.
WindowsWear:
- Vendor has noted the new email domain for faculty/staff users.
- Vendor will be changing all previous faculty/staff users to their new email addresses on or after December 21st, 2023.
