There are a few ways to search for nurse-authored articles in the CINAHL and PubMed databases:

1. CINAHL

Method #1: Select the Advanced Search view on the CINAHL homepage. Scroll underneath the Search Options heading until you see the Any Author is a Nurse limiter, which is located on the left hand side of the webpage. When this limiter is applied, you will only retrieve records where at least one author is a nurse, according to the educational credentials noted in the article (e.g., RN, BSN, MSN, DNS, DNP, etc.) Note that CINAHL is the only database with this specific limiter.

Method #2: You can also enter nurs* in one of the search fields and choose the AF Author Affiliation option located in the adjacent drop-down menu. Your results will include articles affiliated with an institution that has the word "nursing" in the title, such as "School of Nursing."

2. PubMed Central (PMC)

In the Advanced Search Builder of PubMed, enter nurs* in one of the search fields and choose the Affiliation limiter located in the adjacent drop-down menu. Your results will include articles affiliated with an institution that has the word "nursing" in the title, such as "School of Nursing."
