There is a wealth of information available through Statistics Canada. Search by keyword in Statistics Canada Data to find data on a specific topic.
Many of these data tables can be further refined and customized, by using the Add/Remove data option that is available for many Statistics Canada data tables.
Example: To find information on how much money people in Ontario spend on bakery products, start at the ‘Household spending, Canada, regions and provinces’ table, and then refine the table to show more specific region and product information.
Start at Statistics Canada Data and search by keyword, such as household spending. Click on the Household spending, Canada, regions and provinces table.
The Household spending, Canada, regions and provinces table shows household expenditure on broad categories (shelter, food purchased from stores, etc.) for all of Canada. However, more granular data is also available for specific categories and provinces.
Click the Add/Remove data button to refine the table.
Tick the boxes of the categories of interest. Tip: the + (plus) signs will display additional options.
