Sometimes you'll come across a journal on our website that we don't have access to. There could be a couple of reasons for the lack of access:

  1. We don't have a subscription to that specific journal.
  2. We have a subscription to that journal, but our subscription doesn't extend to the year of the issue you're looking for (this may happen for older issues or very new issues).

How do I find out if the library has access to a journal?

You can check our Journal Search list to search for a journal title. Clicking the title of the journal will tell you about what dates are covered by our subscription. Occasionally we'll have print copies as well. For example, in the image below we can see that Newnham campus has a subscription to Harvard Business Review. There's also an Online access link; meaning we have some digital access as well.

What are my options if the library doesn't have what I'm looking for?

If there is an article or issue you're interested in then you can request an interlibrary loan (ILL). Fill out the ILL form and the library will try to locate a copy on your behalf.
