To book a research appointment select the Virtual Research Appointments tile on the library's home page. All research appointments will be conducted virtually over video call at the scheduled time.

Note that appointments need to be booked 24 hours in advance.

To book your appointment:

  1. Select an available time (available timeslots are green) and campus.
    • Note that even though the appointment is virtual, knowing which campus you or your course is based out of helps us pair you with librarian(s) most knowledgeable about your program area.
  2. Click Submit
  3. Confirm the details and press Continue.
  4. Fill out the form. Please include details about your assignment or let us know how we can help. The more we know the better we can prepare.
  5. Click on Submit my Booking.

Once you submit your booking be sure to check your MySeneca email account. You should receive a notice that your booking is pending and a cancellation link if you change your mind. If you don't receive a pending email your booking may not have been submitted.

After booking:

  1. Prior to your booking you should receive a confirmation email. Your confirmation email will include a link to the meeting room, as well as the name and email of the staff member you're meeting with.
  2. Make a note of your meeting time.
  3. When the time comes, copy and paste the link into a browser. You are not required to be on camera during the appointment.

If you need help accessing the virtual meeting please reach out to the library using our Ask Us Live chat so we can provide immediate assistance.

You can access the meeting on any device (including your mobile phone) but it is preferable to access it on a computer with a working microphone and camera. This tool will allow us to see and communicate with you, as well as allow us to show you resources and vice versa with screen sharing.

What can I do in a research appointment?

With a research appointment you can:

  • Spend up to 50 minutes with a library staff member
  • Discuss research or citation questions

You can book 1 appointment per day, and up to 2 per week.

Need to cancel your research appointment?

The confirmation email contains a link that allows you to cancel your appointment.

If you didn't receive a cancellation email or if you're cancelling at the last minute we appreciate it if you let us know by emailing either the librarian with whom you're booked, or researchconsults@senecapolytechnic.ca.
