Looking for information about a famous figure? Type a name into the search box on the library website along with the word 'biography' to help limit your results to biographical information, like in the image below.
Alternately, search for the name of the person you're researching, and on the results page select the 'Reference Entries' option under the Content/Material Type heading on the left side of the page. This will limit your results to reference books like dictionaries and encyclopedias.
Depending on a person's fame, you may also be able to find biographical information in some of our databases. For example:
- Author information may be found in Literature Resource Centre.
- Famous Canadians may be found in the Canadian Encyclopedia, the Dictionary of Canadian Biography, or the Canadian Who's Who found in the CIRC database (Select Canadian Who's Who beneath the search box as the search is separate from the main CIRC search).
- World famous figures may be found in Britannica.
Look for databases specific to your subject's field of work to help you find relevant biographical information.
