If you've ever needed to search for a book with a rather simple title, or tried to find all the books or articles in the library written by one specific author, then you know how tricky it can be. To make it easier, use the Advanced Search on our website to help you narrow your search.

To search for words in a title

  1. Open the Advanced Search screen.
  2. Change the first "Any field" drop down menu to "Title".
    • You can also change the "contains" field to "is (exact)" if you have an exact title in mind, or "starts with" if you only know the first word or two.
  3. Add your full or partial title to the search field and search.

To search for items by a specific author

You can use the library advanced search to find books or articles by a specific author.

  1. Change the first drop down menu from 'Any field' to 'Author', like in the image below.
  2. Type in the author's name (first, last, or both, in any order). You can also switch from 'contains', 'starts with', or 'exact', which may help if the author's name is common.
  3. Press Enter or click Search to see your results.
