“I’m trying to test my links for my courses and have encountered two issues with Seneca Media Archive regarding a film I am to show in my class.
In logging in on both Firefox and Chrome I am unable to login and am given an error:
“Incorrect login. LDAP authentication failed. error.”
I have repeatedly cleared my browser cache.
In Safari I can login but I get this error:
‘Your Adobe Flash player may be outdated. Please Click Here to update to the latest Flash Player.’
So I updated flash and I still get the error.”
The “Incorrect login. LDAP authentication failed. error.” message is usually a matter of not having initially registered your Seneca e-mail username and password for use with SeneMA at one time. Note that registration with SeneMA is not automatic, and all of your students are going to have to do it too.
From record for the title in our Library Search results (example), you would have been directed to http://library.senecacollege.ca/streaming/gaming_in_color.html with this screen:
If you know that you have previously done the registering mentioned in step 2 (you only ever have to do it once), and you then clicked the link in step 3 followed by clicking “Login / Send Add to Friends Request”, and it did not accept your SeneMA login, then it is a matter for the Service Desk to look into. ITS administers the SeneMA site. Seneca Libraries merely loads content into it.
As for the issue with Flash using Safari, from ITS: "Apple famously stopped supporting Flash, Safari does not have Flash support." So unfortunately you will have to use a browser other than Safari to watch videos via SeneMA.
