The library offers online tutorials to help support COM101 and COM111 students. These resources were created in collaboration with faculty in an effort to make access to library instruction for all COM101 and COM111 students more equitable.

What tutorials are available for library instruction?

  • Library Research: The COM101/111 tutorial is a self-paced online tutorial that guides students through the basics of library research and APA citation.
  • Plagiarism and Citation: The library has created an APA library package that can be embedded in Blackboard. Included in the package are the Integrity in Action tutorial, Plagiarism and Citation tutorial, APA citation videos, and graded quizzes.
  • Digital Assignments: For digital assignment support, the Sandbox has created digital media packages for COM101/111 that can be embedded in Blackboard. These packages include digital assignment tips and instructions, rubrics for assessing digital assignments, and content areas that instruct and engage students through interactive modules.

What workshops are offered through the library?

The library offers citation workshops which includes a presentation on how and why to follow citation rules in order to avoid plagiarism. The presentation is followed by a question and answer session where students can ask their citation questions.

For digital assignment support, the Sandbox delivers instruction to guide students in creating a variety of digital assignments including infographics and online presentations.
